Dental Implants
What are Dental Implants?
They are small artificial roots that aid in the replacement of missing teeth, usually made from titanium. The main aim during the placement of an implant is to achieve immediate close contact with
the surrounding bone.
The surface of the implant is biocompatible and will fuse with the jawbone.
What are the benefits?
- No need for denture adhesives, pastes, sticky gums or powders.
- Implants help to maintain your facial structure by preserving the remaining bone in your jaw.
- Minimises wrinkles around the mouth by restoring lost lip-support.
- Markedly improves your ability to chew – you can eat whatever you want and enjoy your food again.
- Secure and comfortable – no more embarrassing moments caused by loose dentures!
Are there any risks associated with dental implants?
Dental implants may not be suitable for patients who have medical or other conditions that could
interfere with the healing process of either their bones or soft tissues. Further information can be
discussed with your dentist.
The Procedure is as Easy as 1 2 3!
The whole process can be completed in three simple steps:
Step 1 (Initial consultation)
An examination is carried out to confirm suitability for our teeth in a day procedure, this is followed by an x-ray and an impression of your teeth, which allows us to gather more information to prepare the set of teeth. At this stage, a CT scan may also be arranged (3D scan).
Step 2 (Try in)
A short appointment where we place a set of plastic teeth (fixed to a wax block) in your mouth where any gaps are present, allowing us to confirm the shape and the dimensions of the eventual fixed teeth.
A preliminary try in of a removable wax denture is carried out to check the fit, aesthetics, and bite. This will allow us to confirm the exact shape of your mouth in order to proceed to the final step.
Step 3 (teeth in a day)
The remaining teeth are carefully removed, the 4 to 6 implants will be placed, and following further measurements, our on-site technician will produce your new teeth. Within a few hours, the teeth are fixed, and you are ready to face the world!
